The first few months on the job can be a confusing and stressful time for new employees. There are tasks to complete, decisions to make and lots of information to consume. Even with the best of intentions, you can end up frustrated if you make the wrong choice or miss a deadline.
New employees are going to have an easier time navigating their first year at NC State thanks to a new Onboarding Center set to open this spring. The center will be staffed by human resource professionals specially trained to help orient new hires to the Wolfpack community.
New faculty and staff members will be able to take advantage of a wide range of services through the center and through a new Web portal designed to automate and simplify many common activities for new employees. Plus, the center will soon offer networking opportunities and social events to help new faculty and staff members connect with colleagues across the university.
New employee orientation–now a daylong workshop that covers an exhaustive list of topics–has been divided into separate components. An online version will be offered in the late fall.
With the help of the Onboarding Center, new employees will be able to get down to business sooner and with fewer distractions, allowing them to focus on NC State’s core mission of teaching, research and service. Visit the website for the Onboarding Center or contact them at 919-513-1278.
